The companion is available on Flip Devotional Facebook page. And that's it. We have no fan mail yet. We're hoping.
SPEAKER_01Hoping. We have no fans. Somebody.
SPEAKER_00Somebody reaches out and says, hey, you guys are doing an okay job. That would be awesome.
SPEAKER_01Or here's a fan mail, stop talking about it.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, there you go. All right. Today we are going over the readings from July 21st to July 27th. So we are still in the July theme, which is do you remember Interesting stories? Yes. Yes. Kind of those obscure little stories that seldom are going to make a sermon reference.
SPEAKER_01A couple of these might.
SPEAKER_00A couple, yes, yes, that is true.
SPEAKER_01But a lot of them would never.
SPEAKER_00And and some are even ones that you may not want your children to know about. I don't know. Because are they going to try to kill 300 Philistines with an ox goat?
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Like, mom, I'm going to go in the backyard and try this.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, well, you should.
SPEAKER_00All right.
SPEAKER_01Have we done the bear one yet?
SPEAKER_00Uh I can't remember.
SPEAKER_01It's all right. Let's go.
SPEAKER_00All right. July 21st. This is my half birthday.
SPEAKER_01Yes, it is. Yes, it is. So we'll get you half a cake.
SPEAKER_00I'll take that.
SPEAKER_01I'll have it cut horizontally.
SPEAKER_00Ah. All right. Interesting. Do I get that half with the icing?
SPEAKER_01It's your no, it's a gift.
SPEAKER_00Okay. All right. July 21st, my half birthday, is Exodus chapter 7, 22 through 24. We are um into the plagues. Plagues. Thank you.
SPEAKER_01Moses has gone back, right? He left Egypt when he killed the guy. Now he's back. God said, go back. He and Aaron, his brother, they're they're working to get the Israelites to leave. Yes. They want to leave. Obviously, you know, God's plan is tell the Pharaoh. So he's he's going to visit the Pharaoh and tell him that they want to go.
SPEAKER_00Yes. So actually, last week um we did the beginning of this story.
SPEAKER_01Yes.
SPEAKER_00It was the the plague of blood where the Nile in all the all waters turned to blood.
SPEAKER_01Right. And also last week, actually this 7, 815, where Aaron staffed, he dropped it and it became a snake. So he did, so that's kind of where we're at. And when he dropped it, it became a snake. The Egyptian magicians did the same thing.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, and then this time, this is this is just what surprises me. Why they thought this was a good idea. So the Egyptian magicians, which is kind of fun to say, um came and did the same thing.
SPEAKER_01I guess some water that Aaron hadn't Moses hadn't turned to blood. Yeah. They they said we have we can do that as well. Right? Right. Um and and as other, you know, it was all drinking water, right? So, you know, when you think about it, if it's all drinking water, that has to mean it's likely someone that was taking a drink of water had water in their mouth. Yeah. Or somebody was bathing. Yeah. So this is, but then the Egyptian magicians did the same thing.
SPEAKER_00Yes.
SPEAKER_01So it's it was one, the message is it's no real special ability you have.
SPEAKER_00Right. And I understand that.
SPEAKER_01But still, why make it worse?
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Change it back right away. That would be good. Uh but as I was reading this, when do we do the same thing that is not beneficial for us and expect a different response? Similar situation. The Egyptian magicians did the same thing, knowing it was bad. Right? So, do we continue a pattern of behavior that we know isn't good for us and may be bad, but we keep at it. Um may or may not be similar, but it it is interesting to me that that that's not an uncommon behavior for people. Right?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_01So, but again, did the same thing. Uh Pharaoh's heart still hardened, not gonna do it, right? But everyone's mad.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. All right. July 22nd and July 23rd kind of go together. Yeah. There it's a continuation story. So it was just too long to do in one day.
SPEAKER_01Um Yeah, it's 15 verses, it's a lot. Well, but it's a good split.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, you know, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, no, it's good. It's good. Uh, but this is where, again, the water to blood, the first plague, this is the second plague, right? Or is it the second plague? This is the plague of frogs. Okay.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01And again, one frog is, you know, if cute.
SPEAKER_00One frog is cute.
SPEAKER_01One frog is cute.
SPEAKER_00Oh, look at the little cute frog. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01And you know, if if you went someplace, you know, I didn't grow up in the country, but we went to a place in the summers that had frogs, and we would capture frogs and get frogs and turn them loose, all that stuff, right? So, yeah, a small number of frogs is okay, right? But this was a plague of frogs, right?
SPEAKER_00This this is okay. So on your bed. In your ovens.
SPEAKER_01In your ovens. This is everywhere you could imagine, including pharaohs in the palace.
SPEAKER_00So there were the kneading troughs.
SPEAKER_01The kneading troughs.
SPEAKER_00Which we have one.
SPEAKER_01Right, we do. We use it as a coffee table, but we haven't and we haven't checked for frogs. No. But maybe we should.
SPEAKER_00The frogs will come up on you. Yes. Now you know how much that would freak me out.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. So you just end up being, it's hard to really visualize, I mean not visualized, but really understand this was frogs everywhere. Everywhere.
SPEAKER_00And so Aaron stretches out his hand over the waters, and frogs come up and covered the land. Says, but the magicians did the same thing. And they made frogs come up onto the land.
SPEAKER_01Right.
SPEAKER_00Are you stupid?
SPEAKER_01Uh perhaps yes. But you know who really must have enjoyed that? God. God. Oh yeah. Because he's having the same conversation.
SPEAKER_00These guys.
SPEAKER_01He said, you see that? You know, and you know, and and and you know, they're all hey. Adam's there, you know, who knows who else is there? Abraham? He said, Yeah, they're the one of two. You know. So frogs, frogs, frogs, everywhere.
SPEAKER_00Everywhere, frogs. So then July 23rd, the rest of the story. Sorry, I didn't give the reference for this. Um, Exodus chapter 8, verses 1 through 15, hence the 15 verses. Um, so Pharaoh summons Moses and Aaron, says, pray to the Lord to take the frogs away. All right. So, first of all, the magicians are responsible for half of them.
SPEAKER_01Yes.
SPEAKER_00Why is he not going to the magicians and saying, hey, get at least your part of the frogs gone?
SPEAKER_01Um, yeah. Maybe they could make them go away. Or they did, and you still had a lot of frogs. True. But still.
SPEAKER_00And then Moses said, All right, I'll do it.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00When would you like them gone?
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_00And what's his answer?
SPEAKER_01Tomorrow? Tomorrow. Not now. What the heck? Yeah. So really, Moses was kind of the first Amazon. When would you like this frog situation resolved? You know, maybe the Faroe thought one more night of frogs would be all right. One more.
SPEAKER_00Why?
SPEAKER_01I maybe just thought it was kind of funny.
SPEAKER_00Tomorrow. If I was Pharaoh's wife, I'd have smacked him in the head.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, what are you thinking, buddy?
SPEAKER_00Tomorrow, I I can't cook. They're in my oven. I I can't go to bed. They're in my bed. Okay, do you remember when you do? Um, so many, many years ago, we lived in Nashville, and um my grandmother died in Frankfurt, and we Frankfurt, Kentucky. Yes, and um, we went to um get some furniture that nobody else wanted, and I just couldn't see it being gotten rid of. So we went with like a trailer and we loaded up all this furniture from my grandmother's, took it to Nashville, put it in this room, kind of like a closed-in garage of this house that um my roommate and I were renting.
SPEAKER_01It was a huge room.
SPEAKER_00And apparently we moved mice from Frankfurt, Kentucky to Nashville, Tennessee.
SPEAKER_01Um against her will, I might add.
SPEAKER_00Yes. Um so we came, we were both um teaching, and we had these chocolate candy bars we were selling as fundraiser, and for some reason we were storing them in um the same room where the furniture was being stored.
SPEAKER_01Keep cold.
SPEAKER_00Came home um one day and found uh pieces of chop big pieces of chocolate bar in our beds. And then I reached up in the top of my closet for something and saw a mouse run. Um there was mouse pea spots on so many things. We took the day off work.
SPEAKER_01Correct.
SPEAKER_00And took everything everything we owned to the laundromat and washed everything, all our beddings, all our clothes. And there, I don't know how many mice there were because we never actually saw them all together at one time. But there were, I don't know, at least three or four.
SPEAKER_01Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Okay, three or four mice freaked you out. Um, because I was afraid one was gonna run across me. One had taken a piece of candy bar into my bed.
SPEAKER_01It was warm.
SPEAKER_00So, yeah. So these frogs all over the place, and Frank goes, tomorrow.
SPEAKER_01Tomorrow.
SPEAKER_00Tomorrow's fine. What was he booked up for the day?
SPEAKER_01He was busy. He had some important pharaoh stuff to do.
SPEAKER_00So, anyway, that was a long story for that.
SPEAKER_01But then this is this is one of the funny parts of my the irony parts of the blagues. Um they prayed, right? Moses prayed, and all the frogs died. Again, when you pray for something, you and this wasn't Moses, this was Pharaoh. Be careful what you're asking for, because you may get it, right? So they ended up having to have piles and piles. So the frogs that were on the bed died on the bed. They didn't go someplace else and die, right? You know, there was no frog, you know, corner. So somehow they had to dispose of all these dead frogs. Had to be just so it's I mean, yeah. But again, you know, why would the magicians do the same thing?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah. It's crazy.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, but again, that my people go, no, no, no. And then it probably comes up, maybe some already, of the ten plagues, but this is just a couple of them of what happened. I mean, there were ten overall, right? So, but frogs everywhere, and now dead frogs everywhere.
SPEAKER_00All right, July 24th. We're leaving the plagues for a bit. Correct. Um, because you know there was how many plagues?
SPEAKER_01I just said 10. Oh, sorry, I wasn't paying attention to we may have done some already, and there's more to come, but these two were clearly.
SPEAKER_00Oh goodness. All right. Um, so this one, um, as you can tell, I do not have a great voice today. Um, but it it you know, this one really lends itself to a song. July 24th.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00A good Beatles song.
SPEAKER_01I have it written down here myself.
SPEAKER_00Seriously? Yeah. Help. I need somebody. Help. Oh my gosh.
SPEAKER_01I was gonna play it, but I left my phone at home.
SPEAKER_00Oh, yeah, love it.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, exactly. Yes, that's a little scary.
SPEAKER_00Oh, that's wonderful. All right, so we have the Amalekites, um, and they are attacking the Israelites. And Moses says to ooh, Joshua, there's a typo. Just saw that. Mine has Jehua.
SPEAKER_01Jehua.
SPEAKER_00It's really Joshua if you have the book. Sorry.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it should be Joshua.
SPEAKER_00Um to some of our men and go out to fight the Melechites. Tomorrow, okay, that's a little freaky, kind of like Pharaoh. Yeah. Right. Tomorrow I will stand on top of the hill with the staff of God in my hands. Like, all right.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I gotta feel pretty good if the staff of God's showing up.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_01I mean, I've seen what it's done.
SPEAKER_00So he does, but then they realize that as long as Moses held his hands up, the Israelites were winning. And whenever he lowered his hands, the Melechites were winning.
SPEAKER_01And if you think, just stick your arms out.
SPEAKER_00Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_01How long can you do that for?
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Not very long.
SPEAKER_00Not very long. Um, so his hands grew tired. So they took a stone and put it under him and he sat on it because sitting down, holding your hands up is easier than standing up your hands.
SPEAKER_01Got him down a mountain 800 times. He's gotta be tired.
SPEAKER_00And then Aaron and her held his hands up, one on one side, one on the other.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I think it's good adding that information. Because I just thought, like, one in the front, one in the back. But now I understand how they did it. Good planning, though. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00And as long as his- That was in the Bible, that wasn't me. Yeah. Just let you guys know.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. As long as his arms are up, they're winning. Arms go down, they stop, right? And you know, Joshua is saying, buddy, get your arms up. You know, yeah, or we're gonna attack on the left, keep that arm up for sure. So, yeah, but they help. But yeah, I have the same thing. Beatles get by with a little help from my friends. Nice, and they did get by, they they prevailed.
SPEAKER_00Yep, yep.
SPEAKER_01So, and you know, we we heard a lot about Aaron. We don't go a lot about her.
SPEAKER_00Well, we didn't need them the other times, I guess not.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, so there's Beatles, and also his son was pretty famous. The movie Ben Her, isn't Ben's son of so anyway.
SPEAKER_00I didn't give the reference for this, it was Exodus 17, 8 through 13.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, we're not really doing a great job today. But I hope you're enjoying it. This may get us some fan mail.
SPEAKER_00If if you look through all the scriptures in the month of July, they're like Exodus, Joshua, and Judges are probably 99% of them.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00A lot of good stuff in those books.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00It's right. Well, you gotta read them.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, and there's a couple in the New Testament.
SPEAKER_00Yes, yeah. We had an axe for sure.
SPEAKER_01Uh-huh. But yeah, the young guy fell out the window.
SPEAKER_00Yep, yep.
SPEAKER_01We also did, you know, I always liked the one where um the guy sells his property, but acts like it kept selling.
SPEAKER_00Yes, yeah, that was also axe. Yeah. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01You know. That story's fun because die right away, wife comes, she dies right away, right? And these young guys haul the body. I'm sure they're thinking, how'd I get this job? You know.
SPEAKER_00You gotta start somewhere.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, my buddy Bob over there, he's filling up water pitchers. We're not only are we hauling dead bodies away, we're digging graves. So anyway, July 25th.
SPEAKER_00Is a Joshua scripture.
SPEAKER_01Yes.
SPEAKER_00Um, I really like this one because um everyone knows the Red Sea story.
SPEAKER_01Yes.
SPEAKER_00I I mean, I really think that is not exaggerating. People, everyone knows God parted the Red Sea for Moses and the Israelites to pass through.
SPEAKER_01On dry ground. On dry ground, yes. I mean, if you've been to the beach and the tide's out, the sand is wet.
SPEAKER_00Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_01But this and it just shows you how much God cares for you.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01He made the ground dry. Easier, you know, you're not gonna lose a shoe in the mud, the cart's full of animals, you know, whatever. They're gonna go boom-boom boom.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, which also the must have been very firm.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Um, they made good time. 600,000, maybe men.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. But when you talked about the whatever, carts, yeah, stuff with wheels, um, our our daughter and her husband, who now have a granddaughter, went to the beach recently, and um she talked about how hard it was to push the stroller on the beach.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00I was like, yep, been there, done that. Um, but yeah, that God obviously made it where it was easy for them to get across.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Because God loves us so much.
SPEAKER_00So much. So this is a Joshua reference, chapter three, fourteen through seventeen. And this is not the Red Sea being parted, it's the Jordan.
SPEAKER_01Jordan River.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. And at flood stage.
SPEAKER_01At flood stage. So it's probably could be the spring, you know, things melting, a lot of rain. Boom.
SPEAKER_00It says all during the harvest.
SPEAKER_01All during the harvest in the fall, then, okay. Most of the flood stage.
SPEAKER_00But it says so they were traveling, um, carrying the Ark of the Covenant. Um, they get to the Jordan at flood stage, and it says, yet, as soon as the priest who carried the ark reached the Jordan, okay, so first of all, I don't know what their plan was. It's at flood stage, they're coming to the Jordan. There's I'm I'm from what I can tell, there is not a plan.
SPEAKER_01Right.
SPEAKER_00And it's like they're just going. They're going.
SPEAKER_01We got the Ark of the Covenant. God told us to go, we're going, we're not waiting. We're gonna go.
SPEAKER_00And as soon as their feet touched the water's edge, the water from upstream stopped flowing. Bam.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah. The next sentence. It piled up in a heap a great distance away. So, you know, it's like when you go by new construction, they're building a home, they dig out the basement, you see a pile of dirt, right? It's like a pile of water upstreamed in a heap. Just, you know, don't worry about it.
SPEAKER_00You know what I thought of when I read it piled up in a heap?
SPEAKER_01Wow.
SPEAKER_00Two days before scripture, the frogs were piled up into heaps.
SPEAKER_01Yes, apparently. Well, you know, same wording. Yeah, yeah. And you know, piles are heaps, you know, so it makes sense. But yeah, so it stopped.
SPEAKER_00But stopped a great distance away.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00And says, while the water flowing down to the sea of something that is the the Dead Sea Arabah was completely cut off.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00So the people crossed over in the middle of the river, um, on dry ground.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, dry ground. Again, dry ground.
SPEAKER_00While all Israel passed. Everyone went across on dry ground.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Again, God, if you're obedient, God will create the path for you.
SPEAKER_00Sorry, I really left out a really important part. The priest who were carrying the Ark of the Covenant stopped in the middle while everyone else passed.
SPEAKER_01Yes. So it stopped for the Ark of the Covenant, but they kept going. How did they know to do that? How did they know to stop? But they did. And it also gave a chance for all the Israelites to be closer to the Ark of the Covenant as well. You know, because normally don't touch it. Don't no, no, no, no, no. Use those poles you got.
SPEAKER_00Um so yeah. So first of all, all of Israel, I don't know how many people that is, but I'm thinking it's a lot.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00And they're just standing there holding this. How heavy was it? How long did they just stand there holding this?
unknownGosh.
SPEAKER_01A couple days.
SPEAKER_00I don't know.
SPEAKER_01Well, and did they get help? You should have called Aaron or her.
SPEAKER_00Or Sun Ben. Okay, there really is no connection with those, in case someone's wondering. No. Um, yeah. So just it and this isn't the only time the seas um was. This is a river. And it was parted again. I don't know if we've talked about it yet.
SPEAKER_01But either Elisha or Elijah, one of those two, Eli's.
SPEAKER_00Um yeah. All right.
SPEAKER_01And Jesus didn't part it, but he stopped the storm.
SPEAKER_00Yep. Yep. All right.
SPEAKER_01Moving on, moving on.
SPEAKER_00July twenty-sixth. Um this is one I that I don't know. If you have your children read this, how do you explain it to them? But um this is one about the prostitute Rahab.
SPEAKER_01Correct.
SPEAKER_00Rahab. So do you want to tell?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, Joshua, the old joke is he was an orphan because he's son of none. But Joshua sends two spies, right? Go check it out. Right? Jericho. They're about Jericho. You know, the guidance God gave Joshua and maybe Moses, but go to this land I'm giving you and defeat everybody. Defeat everyone, you know. And this is later on. Earlier, they sent the 12 spies to check it out, right? Or the 12 people to just go see what it was, one from each tribe. And they say, Oh, they're really big, we can't do it. Joshua sends these two spies again, go check it out, see what's going on, right? Especially Jericho. So they went and they entered a house of a prostitute. How'd they know if she was a prostitute, but they stayed there. They went there. And interesting, prostitute, obviously, we know what a prostitute does. Um, so going there could very well have been it's not uncommon for men to show up there at different times and strangers to go there. So they're there. And the two say, look, if you're treat us kindly, faithfully, and when the Lord gives us, don't tell people what we're doing. If the Lord, when when the Lord gives us this land, Jericho, we'll treat you well. And she hid the man that the two guys, we don't even know their names. She hid them over there. Um, I think they said it's not here, but put a some color scarf or something on the window, so we'll know where you are. And later on in the story, she has her whole family come in there, right? Because they knew they were coming. So, you know, go ahead and do that. And so that's what she she hit them with a Jericho, and then they stayed there. They were Jericho was looking for them, couldn't find them because they were hiding, and then they go back. So that's the first half. That's that's the Joshua 2, 1, and 4, 1, 14, and 625 part of the story. So that's Rahab. We got him with the spies are doing. And then the next part is really significant, right?
SPEAKER_00It and perhaps surprising. Oh, yeah. I'm not sure everyone knows this. So the next scripture comes from Matthew chapter one, verses one through five. So it's that's one of the places in the Bible where if you're like, oh, I think I'll read the book of Matthew, and you turn to the beginning, you'd go, okay, so yeah, I'm gonna skip this part and get to the story. This part lists the genealogy of Jesus, who we all know is the son of David, who was the son of Abraham.
SPEAKER_01Or a son of Abraham.
SPEAKER_00Yes.
SPEAKER_01David was not the son of Abraham.
SPEAKER_00Okay, yeah, yes, yes. If you keep going, it says, um, so Nashan, the father of Salmon, and Salmon the father of Boaz, whose mother was Rahab.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. So here's this woman, a prostitute, in the genealogy of Jesus, right?
SPEAKER_00And if you look through the the genealogy, um there's maybe three women mentioned, one of which is Rahab the prostitute.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah. And Boaz married Ruth. Yes.
SPEAKER_00I think Ruth is mentioned.
SPEAKER_01Yes.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. So um pretty significant, I think. One, I mean, God could have done it anyway.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00But he he included a prostitute.
SPEAKER_01He included a woman who helped Israel. That's who he included. That's that's who's included. Right. Nice. She took a risk and helped. And I think somewhere I read that she actually married one of the two spies. But I think I don't know. But regardless. So yes, she was a prostitute, right? But she was obedient. She, God used her and saved her family, right? And it speaks again of God isn't worried about who you've been, what you've done. Right? He wants us to do what he wants us to do at that point. It doesn't matter what happened before. It doesn't matter what happened. You know, we mentioned celebrate recovery. It doesn't matter, right? Right. Many t-shirts, right? You know, don't ask me about my past.
SPEAKER_00Jesus has taken care of that or something like that.
SPEAKER_01Jesus has, you know, found me innocent or, you know, or you know, dismissed the charges or something. Rahab is the, not if she's the first, but a very good example of that, you know. As was Moses, who left Egypt because he was afraid he was going to be killed because he killed an Egyptian, right? So he left there. And God said, You need to go back. It's like, you know. So yeah, so Rahab, I think that's that's who God used. When what happened beforehand, God's not nearly as interested in. He knows, no secrets, but he can use anyone to move forward.
SPEAKER_00Very good. All right, July 27th.
SPEAKER_01Yes.
SPEAKER_00Right? Joshua chapter six, verses one through five in verse 20. This is a fun story to do with kids.
SPEAKER_01Yes.
SPEAKER_00Because you can do it and give them the opportunity to yell. And that's like we've done it before, we're stacked a bunch of boxes up.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00And it's like, okay, everyone circle around and let's yell at the boxes, and you just let them scream as loud as they can, stomp their feet, and see if the boxes fall.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00And they don't.
SPEAKER_01No.
SPEAKER_00But um, this is the story of when the walls of Jericho um fell down. And from shouting.
SPEAKER_01Shouting, yeah, yeah, yeah. Well, and the walls of Jericho were there for security. You know, kind of like the Calvary, the forts, were there for security. Right. Right. So that's why they were there. All right.
SPEAKER_00Um, yeah, and the near the beginning it says, then the Lord said to Joshua, See, I've delivered Jericho into your hands, along with its king and its fighting men. Like, no, I don't see that. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I don't see that.
SPEAKER_00Like they're outside the city walls at this point. Yeah. The king and all the fighting men are inside.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00So and then he tells them to march around the city.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. And for six days, just do one lap. Right? Mm-hmm. You know, and part of that, if you're inside the walls, they're all here and they're marching. They go around one time and they go home. Okay. Do it again. Do it again. You know. I mean, how long does he have to do something every day to become a habit? Well, they're just coming and watch, you know. So I would think by day four, five, six, they're thinking, okay, I don't know what they're doing, but if they just want to come walk around us and go home, we're good with that. So, but then day seven comes. And day seven, the right, march around the city seven times, right? Mm-hmm. With the priest blowing the trumpets. So they go around seven times, right? So this is a change if you're in Jericho, right? Walking around. And I don't know, someone years ago said it was 1480. I don't know how big Jericho was, but they're they're walking around it, right? Going around it, right? And then the last, when you hear the long blast on the trumpets, right, then all the army does is shout, loud shout, right? Now, if you're a soldier, you've been wandering the desert, right? You've been protecting the Israelites, and you're said, you know, we've walked around this, you know, got all our gear on, we go walk around, okay. Yes, Joshua, we'll do that. Then seven times. Okay. And when you hear the long blast on the trumpet, yell as loud as you can. You know, and to their credit, they said, okay, sounds like a good plan, right? And they blow it as loud, yell as loud as they can. And what happens?
SPEAKER_00The wall of the city will collapse, and uh, and then the army will go up.
SPEAKER_01Everyone straight in. The wall's gone. Right? So they did this. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven. Yeah, ah. And exactly what happened, right? The wall collapsed.
SPEAKER_00They charged straight in and took the city.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Remember we used to do the Jericho walks?
SPEAKER_00Yes.
SPEAKER_01You know, we wouldn't, I don't know how many times we do it, but we would go to different places. We went to schools beyond the school year.
SPEAKER_00We were working with the youth group at the time.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00And we w we went to each of their schools and um invited others to to join us, and we would walk around the perimeter of the school seven times.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Um, and just praying. We did it before school started.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Kind of claim the building and the activities for God, just you know, keep it safe, you know. Um, yeah, you know, it was kind of interesting. Often thought that we should have, and we never did, and I'll blame I'll be responsible for not having done it. But um Fayette Mall.
SPEAKER_02Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_01Around Thanksgiving, before Thanksgiving, walk around. Fayette Mall is the big mall here. Every, you know, eight million stores. Walk around that and claim that for God as well. Because from Thanksgiving to Christmas, God's is pushed out of the mall. But you know, just yeah. So same idea. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00It's very cool.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. So that's the reading for the week. Um, hope you enjoyed it. Again, still a question: why would the magicians do it, right? Had a Beatles reference, can't beat that. Piles of dead frogs, heaps of frogs, heaps of water, flood stage. Um, so we referenced a prostitute, so really kind of a very diverse, and we destroyed a wall.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01And captured everybody in there. Really busy week, really. Kind of tired just thinking about it.
SPEAKER_00Oh my gosh, I'm exhausted. And held our arms up through the whole fighting.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Very good. But yes, hope you you guys enjoyed today. Um, if you have any thoughts or stories you want to share with us, you can do it on fan mail. All right.
